A Family Book
When Immy was a baby I made her a simple photo album in a commercial plastic cover containing five photos of family members holding her as a nine week old infant. She loves looking at it and finding each person as I name them. Unfortunately, the book only had room for the five photos and this has never quite been enough.
So last week I ordered a photo flip book from Snapfish. I collected photos of herself, myself and Dad 101, her grandparents, great-grandparents and aunts and uncles, editing each in Photoshop Elements to fit a portrait 6×4 photo (head and shoulders) and each person’s name. These were then uploaded to the Snapfish website and the printed flipbook arrived just days later. It is spiral bound and has a clear plastic front and back cover. She loves it already and I can see that it will be a great learning tool in so many ways for some time to come.
Love this idea Christie! I created a cube with all the family photos on it for Miss M when she was little. It was a great tool for teaching her each family member's name especially with most of them living far away. I'm sure Immy will really treasure her new gift.
Great idea. I had a yearbook for our family printed last year and my kids love looking through it a remembering what we did during the year. I'd not thought of doing a similar thing for the littlies. I like the spiral bound format. Easy for little fingers.
I put together an ABC book for my daughter and her friends for their first birthday – with pictures of the 6 kids in our mum’s group and their parents. It was really well loved, and even now my 4.5 year old pulls it out to show people. I’ve been meaning to do a similar book for my son – but with pictures of our family. I’m going to just have to do it – make the time, no fussing, just do it!!
