A family to me… a group of people bonded by love, fun, warmth, support, belief, encouragement, hard lessons with soft landings and so much more. I have also just been reading your previous post ' reminder to a generation – thank you -I don't need permission to be present and involved with my kids BUT I do need reminding that the 'other' stuff can wait, I don't need to do it all NOW etc.. Loved it. Looked for an email address for you – canne find one! Cheers. Peta

  2. I think sometimes the ones that you aren't relayted to by blood are as much if not more of a family!

Very good picture. I can see family of three stones. What makes a family? Everything I talk about in my blog. It’s way too much to say in this comment section. I thought you might be interested in a Fashion Jewelry Giveaway. This is a beautiful photo necklace. A Family is any group of people that love eachother! Good and Bad!

  9. Where are these rocks? Very cool picture!

  10. I love the way you made the bloghop interactive 🙂 To me a family is taking the time to invest yourself in others. The people you invest in the most are your 'family'

  11. A family is your support in this world. They don't have to have the same blood because love is thicker that blood. They love you for who you are. Nothing more, nothing less.

  12. Julie Parker says:

I really like the way HeatherOZ has said it – "A family is any group of people that love each other"

    Beautifully put.

The rocks are in Cappadocia in Turkey, it is the most amazing place.

Loving the conversation about 'family.' These rocks make me feel that a family is solid, always there providing support(in thought if not in body), they provide shelter (I love how the small rock looks to be snuggling in to the medium sized rock), and they look out for each other (like the large rock is doing).

Keep the conversation going. What else defines a family? What are your thoughts?

  15. That is a perfect explanation of that picture. Excellent metaphor! Family is love.

  16. Moms On The Go says:

A family is a group of people who love each other, would do anything for each other and deeply care for each other 🙂

  17. Yeah, what is a family? When someone says the word "family" I immediately get this feeling in my heart – which I can't put into words.
Sure, it's true as others have said here, family is love, a group of people who love and care for each other… but to me, family is something more than that.
For example, I have a friend who I've been best friends with since we were 12-13 years old and I would without doubt consider her my best friend and might even go as far as calling her my sister. But then I look to my 'real' sister, and there's just something more that connects us. That doesn't mean I love her more or care for her more than for my friend… just that there's something in us that gives us a connection.
But then I also don't think you need to have a blood link to feel that way, because it is also true that I feel this family connection with you (and your whole family).

So what's family? For me, at least, there's no good answer to that. Family is… family.

    What defines family for you?
