We Play: Because It’s Fun!

This week the interminable reorganisation of my study continued. When I work, Immy often comes and plays beside me and on this occasion I pulled out the useful box and asked her if she wanted to make something. I started pulling off lengths of tape as I imagined that she would begin to make with tape as she so often does.

Instead she pulled out two plastic juice bottles and started looking for something to put into them. Earlier she had been using coloured matchsticks as candles in playdough so she pulled out the container of matchsticks again and started filling one bottle. She found a matching lid and screwed it on and then started shaking. Then she turned to the second bottle and I suggested that she might like to use some buttons to try making a different sound (I keep the buttons out of reach at the moment). Perfect for a second musical shaker. One each and time for a break from organising for a quick song and dance around the room 🙂

Do you have a useful box of small collectables suitable for making? We love ours!

I have THREE favourite posts from last week’s link up (yes, three, I couldn’t help it!). For a lovely family focused baby/toddler activity, check out this post, it’s precious. Secondly, I love this creative list of ideas for using the humble pool noodle on dry land. And finally, how fantastic is this swing???

And now it is your turn, what have you been playing this week?

Full instructions for first time players can be found here. Please remember to link back to We Play in the body of your post 🙂

Creating things from anything – such a simple way to have fun. Looks like Immy is having a great time Christy.

We try to keep a useful box as well as containers of crafty things that the girls can make anything from.

  6. Yes, I removed the post, forgetting to say thanks for the link to the swing for painting – it's amazing!

I always forget about the simple…Sweet Pea tends towards straws and fridge magnets. I wonder what he'd do if I actually had some specifically for this?! Thanks for the idea/reminder!
