Kids Art: Loving these…

I have talked previously about introducing new art mediums to children – like watercolour paints and oil pastels, and the importance of supplying children with the best quality art materials that you can afford as there is nothing more satisfying than creating with rich, strong colours on the page. As a result, I am always on the lookout for new, child friendly art mediums to use with Immy and recently came upon Crayola Twistables Slick Stix. They are like a soft, oil pastel in toddler friendly form. The colours are really intense and the crayon just glides across the page.

Immy really enjoys drawing with them, especially at the easel, and we have had a number of children come to play who have been quite taken with them too (the picture at the top is by one of Immy’s friends). Who am I kidding, I also love drawing with them! They really are that good.

In fact, a number of packets have made their way into Christmas gifts for the children in our lives 😉

Have you discovered a new art resource that you love lately? I would love to hear about your finds.

P.S. This is not a sponsored post, just me sharing about a product that we like using 🙂

We have their Twistables markers and I love them. I'll be getting some of these for sure as I'm mighty tired of Cappers smooshing all my pastels!! x

  2. Hi Christie,
They look great. Have just tried to find them on the internet with no success. Can you tell me more about them please – where you bought them and how many in a pack.
    Thanks

Jodie, I got ours from Spotlight but I would think Kmart would have them, I am pretty sure that they sell Crayola. They come in a packet of 12, which includes a gold and a silver which are pretty cool.

  4. Oh, we LOVE these as well. In fact I'm picking up another set for Christmas stockings, since my boys have already gone through several of their favorite colors. I love the bright vibrant colors of them and how easy they are to use for them.
I recently tried the Crayola Water Soluble Oil Pastels and we really loved them. I love the variety of color and the ease of use. Here is a link (I'm not sponsoring them or anything either, just really love the product!)

  5. I love oil pastels, but they are so messy. These look great. Thanks for sharing.
I do have a 20 sets of real oil pastels left over from my teaching days. My kids are getting older and may be able to keep the mess to a minimum. You've inspired me to get them out and let my kids create.

  11. I have three windows in the back of our family room that measure 5 feet wide by six feet tall, and I allow my five year old daughter to draw on the windows with her slick writers. She loves to decorate and make sun catching images for us all to enjoy. BONUS: we have sparkling windows after clean up!

  12. I am SO excited to have finally found a packet of these today and can’t wait to let my girls loose with them! I have been looking everywhere for them since reading this post and stumbled across them today in the “chuck out bin” in our local Riot store. The worst part will be if the girls love them and I can’t get them anymore 🙁
