Our Play Space: Our Busy Fun Filled Playroom

A peek inside a reader’s play space…

We are very lucky to have a whole room dedicated to fun and play that my 2 year old girl and 4 year old boy spend much time in. A real feature of this space is our home made play kitchen which I had a lot of fun constructing with many recycled materials for next to nothing, which gets a lot of use. Our dolls and baby beds are right by the kitchen, as my little girl loves to cook things for them to eat.

We also have a lovely reading corner with a little spot to sit and look at books from our collection independently, or with mum to read some stories with. Nearby is a dress up area with a large mirror, hook rack displaying numerous types of headwear, plus a basket full of other dress ups and accessories, and the ‘treasure chest’ full of shiny special treasure!

Adjacent to that is a corner with a large home made black board, below that some playsets are set up on a low table, next to another small table plus chairs to sit and explore various activities against a backdrop wall full of maps to look at and talk about, as earlier in the year my children and I were fortunate enough to travel overseas to visit grandparents, so we like to keep the memory alive of our adventure.

We have a pretty good dedicated storage area too with several boxes labelled with pictures and words to help us learn to put things back where they belong and help tidy up. On the walls and hung across the room we peg our artwork and anything else that takes our fancy and helps make the room fun and cheery to be in. It’s a busy room where we have lots of fun playing and exploring many different types of activities.

Thank you Daisy for sharing your play space with us. For a full tour of the playroom be sure to check out this post on Daisy’s Happy Gas blog.

Such a fabulous room. It is so refreshing to see a playroom that is real, loved and lots of fun that doesn’t look like it came out of an ikea catalogue. Some great ideas here too!

  2. That play space looks fantastic!

  3. Wow, that’s an amazingly creative and nuturing space. Lucky ducks! x

Wow, this is incredible! I hope one day our playroom looks similar to this too 🙂

I’ve just started up a new Australian blog about kids and food, want to come and check it out?

  5. We had maps on the walls of our bedroom too, when I was a child. I wandered across the map beside my bed as I fell asleep—learning places all over the world as I drifted off. I love that you filled your wall with some maps too!
