10 Simple Ways To Inject A Little Fun Into Today

10 Fun Things to To Do Today

1. Visit a new-to-you park or playground.

2. Go out for ice cream or to share a milkshake.

3. Or stay in and uncook a treat! Make ice cream sundaes or banana splits or whip up some icing and decorate funny face biscuits.

4. Go for a swim or a bike ride.

5. Catch a train, bus or ferry.

6. Create something together. It doesn’t have to be fancy – cover the table with a big sheet paper and draw with felt tipped pens. Try box construction. Or build with Lego.

7. Wash the car (or the dog) together.

8. Play a board game or teach your child a game from your own childhood.

9. Surprise them with a treasure hunt. Try one of these ideas or one from the Playopedia collection.

10. And if you are really brave, love bomb your child with a day of ‘Yes!’  Anything goes 🙂

Now if you could excuse us, my big girl and I are off for an impromptu morning of fun! How could you add a little fun to your day today?

  1. Love it!

  2. Thanks, Christie, I am going to make some funny face bikkies to greet Lolly home from her FIRST DAY at big school! 😀 (I’m doing very well, by the way!)

  3. I’m in love with the treasure hunt idea! Fabulous!

  4. We went to the library for story time. Lots of book reading, singing and dancing and it was all free. We had a great time.

    1. We love our library, Brooke. It is one of the first places Immy will ask to visit for an outing. Glad you had fun!

  5. I was going to say singing and dancing and I see Brooke has beaten me to this. We love to have a “Kitchen disco” to pep things up around here.

Today has been a much slower pace. We didn’t even make a full week of school without escaping sickness. My little cherub is home today and now on several different medications. Not a flash way to start the school year. We did some watercolour painting this morning and had a puppet show which seemed to keep all cherubs happy. A muffin tin lunch with some fancy bits and pieces also helped to keep spiritis high!

    1. You know Immy has the sniffles today, Elise, and she only went to kindy for one half day this week! Hope the sickness clears up over the weekend, I am sure painting and puppets help a lot!

  6. We went for a loooong bus ride across Brisbane yesterday. Mr 3 1/2 had a great time on the way, looking at and commentating about EVERYTHING. The way home he was not quite so enthusiastic, and fell asleep in my arms/on my handbag 🙂

  7. Great suggestions! Is that photo of the shopping game above a game of Immy’s? If so, do you remember where it’s from? Looks like a great one…

    1. Hi Amanda, It is a Orchard Toys game called Shopping List and you would like likely find it at the more educational toy stores in Perth, like the Playroom or Trover Learning. Online, I think The Kids Depot sell it ( which is a small company run by a Perth mum). It’s a great game for under 5s 🙂

  8. Little Eco loves that Shopping game too. I love Orchard Toys games and I think some of their games are even made from recycled paper/cardboard.

Thanks for the link to my Urban Adventure. We’re starting another urban adventure next week to try and get back outdoors – only this time i’m committing to riding my bike to each park. Exercise and adventure combined into one activity!
