  1. I had to laugh when I saw your 36 weeks update about choosing a name. You pre-requisites are the same as my husand’s and mine (we are both teachers too). Maybe we teachers can be a little TOO thought out with names sometimes! :o)

Names are always hard! I was named after a student that my mum taught when she was in Pakistan, with my younger sister (Megan) my parents just liked the name and with my youngest sister (Jocelyn) mum wanted to have apart of her name in it (her middle name is Lynette so that was one of the reasons I think they were drawn to it JoceLYN :D).

I love the name Clara its so old fashioned yet very girly so if I ever have a daughter I will be wanting to name her Clara, I also love Quinn and Holly. For boys I love the names James (it is my grandfathers middle name), Mathew and Jackson. It all just depends on what you like and whether you want it to have sentimental value or not. With my sisters and I our middle names all mean something my middle name Maree is my auntys name, Megan’s middle name Joy is my Grandmas middle name and Jocelyns middle name Clare is a good family friends name. My Mum (I am sure my Dad couldn’t care less) wanted out first names to have a nice meaning Erin means peace (which I am often not haha!), Megan means pearl and Jocelyn (I think) means pure and just. Honestly the perfect name will hit you soon 🙂

    1. I think it is wonderful that you have so much of a sense of meaning and family history included in your names 🙂

Baby names? What a dilemma eh? I have some suggestions (not necessarily my choice) that are a tad different:
Girls: Belle; Georgia; Melinda; Naomi; Susannah; Vada; Lisette; Katrina; Zoe or Chloe; Harmony; Grace and of course Margaret is a lovely name. : )
Boys: Dorian; Julian; Miles; Sheldon; Simon; Jayden; David; Christopher; Paul
Will leave those with you. Don’t think any would be shortened to ‘bad’ names. Of course knowing what your baby will be, boy or girl, makes the choice 50% easier.
Good luck and hope you are resting as much as possible. xx

  4. oooh not long now….make sure you get plenty of couch time in the next couple of weeks. x

A friend mentioned family names but doubt you would want to use any of ours:
Percy; Gertrude; Winifred; Henry; Leonard; Walter; Thomas; George, Evelyn; Maud; Robert; Dorothy; Marie, Eva; Eda; Matilda.
I won’t go on as can’t see any I’d even contemplate using!!
I still prefer the old fashioned names such as Peter, David, John; Daniel; Thomas and so on for boys and Diane, Susan, Sarah; Emma; Alice; Jane etc. for girls so I am really no help to you at all. xx

  6. I love that Immy is so excited about being a big sister. And that the cat gets a vote LOL

  7. I think that cat should get a vote 🙂

This was a lovely post. I am sure the perfect name will come, at just the right time. I hope you have plenty of time for rest and preparation before the little one comes! Remember, everything in due time.

  8. Gorgeous!

Names are so hard, and we have our little one ‘helping’ with that decision too. Her preferences are Angelina Ballerina for a girl, and Willy Wonka for a boy… hmmmm!

  9. When I was expecting our youngest (Caileigh), my eldest wanted to call her Kara, which I liked and definitely considered for a while. The secondborn’s slightly less successful pick was Cordelia-Bedelia …

    1. I don’t know- there’s something quite catchy about Cordelia Bedelia 🙂

  10. Oh getting so close now. Good luck – we can’t wait to see your little bundle!
