When it comes to involving my children in the kitchen I like to keep things simple, and the three ingredients in this jelly fluff recipe sure keeps things simple!

It does however provide school age children with an opportunity to put a few more advanced kitchen skills to work, including safely managing boiling water and an electric handheld beater.

Jelly fluff is delicious as a pudding, dessert or party food, and a heart topped pink jelly fluff pudding even makes a gorgeous Valentine's treat.

Ingredients

  • 1x 85gm packet jelly crystals - we used raspberry flavor
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk, chilled
  • Whipped cream
  • Toppings: strawberries, candy hearts, heart chocolates or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Dissolve jelly crystals in boiling water and then set aside to cool completely (but do not let set).
  2. Optional - we added a little of the jelly to each of our party glasses and placed them in the fridge to set.
  3. Place evaporated milk into a large bowl (it fluffs up a lot) and beat with an electric beater for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Stir through the cooled jelly mixture until well combined. Place fluff into serving glasses, ramekins or small dessert bowls and place into the fridge to set.
  5. Decorate set pudding with a simple strawberry heart, or a little whipped cream and chocolate heart, or your choice of decoration.
  6. Serve chilled.

This is great! I was trying to think of something to fill shot glasses I bought for my daughter’s party & this is perfect! Though do you know how long they would last at room temperature? As I would have them on display on a candy buffet… Thanks very much! 🙂

    1. I am not exactly sure, Jacqueline. I guess it would partly depend on the temperature of where the candy buffet is to some extent. I think they would be fine for an hour or two.

  4. Going to make some of this. My mum used to make similar to this with Yoghurt in place of the evaporated milk. we used to half-set the Jelly (again, made with only the boiling water, not adding the cold part) , and use the electric mixer to beat in a 250lm tub of plain ( natural no sugar or flavouring) yoghurt in. Made a lovely milky tangy jelly for desert .

    1. I love the idea of using yoghurt, Nida, thank you so much for the suggestion.

  6. hey I just made this recipe but used pineapple jelly. It tastes so good. I made them in little containers for easy travel for lunch.
Don’t know if this was to happen but was like a magic effect.
Thin jelly layer at bottom but when the fluff set the middle was like a custard and top was fluffy.
    3 simple ingredients love it

  7. My mom and I made them, when I was a little girl, but we used ice cream cones ,not shot glasses
