Chocolate No Cook Playdough Recipe

I think chocolate playdough might be my favourite type of playdough. It smells amazing but it tastes like playdough so the kids won’t eat it….. mostly!!!

You will need:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of plain flour
  • 1/2 cup of cocoa
  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 2 Tablespoons of cream of tartar
  • 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 and 1/3 cups of boiling water

To make:

Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add the oil and then slowly mix in the boiling water. Place the combined ingredients onto the bench top and knead it until it is beautiful and smooth. If the playdough is a little sticky add a little extra flour while you knead it.

Once we have our fresh chocolate playdough we like to set up a pretend ice cream shop. I pile the playdough into a plastic container and then add an ice cream scoop or large spoon. Add some little cups to serve the ‘ice cream’ playdough (these are from the party/baking supplies area of our local supermarket).

Don’t forget some little spoons and beads or sequins so that your children can add some sprinkles to the ‘ice cream’.

If you want to add a few more flavours to your playdough ice cream shop, you have to try Christie’s lemon playdough recipe, this delicious pink playdough scented with herbal tea and a batch of green peppermint dough too!

  1. That playdough looks yummy. I love how you make it look like ice cream and how kids can pretend to make sundaes.
