Mum 2 Mum: Virtual Friends

What is Mum 2 Mum? Mum 2 Mum is a place where as online friends we can share a little of our own experiences, so why not pop in for a cuppa and join the conversation.

Today I am at a blogging conference, for the first time meeting many of the friends I have made online in person. It is amazing and strange all at the same time. Some of these friends know so much about me, even though we had never previously met.

Have you made good  friends online? Have you ever had the opportunity to meet your virtual friends in real life? Do you feel this online community has changed motherhood for our generation?

  1. How exciting for you Christie. I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to attend a bloggers’ conference, but if I could overcome my shyness it would be an amazing experience to meet my ‘virtual friends’.

I’m lucky enough to be real-life friends with Jane from Life on Planet Baby and ange_moore from Ange’s Ramblings. And I have had dinner with Emma Burgess. They are as wonderful in the flesh as they are on the screen!

Hope to hear all about your adventures!

    1. You totally have to come next year, Sarah. The four C101 gals in attendance were very sad that you weren’t there 🙁

  2. would have loved to have gone along AND met the both of you (Sarah and Christie) – maybe next year?!. Christie, hope you are having a great time and a nice child-free break and come back freshly inspired.

    1. Thanks Michele. I have come home completely exhausted and still processing what a wonderful experience it was 🙂

  3. Absolutely Christie! I’ve made some incredibly special friends through an online pregnancy/ wedding forum. I’ve met a number of them in real life and they’ve all been an integral part of my life as a mum. Their love and support through tough times has been invaluable.

Have fun at the bloggers conference! I can’t wait to hear all about it xx

  5. It was great to meet you in person 🙂

I met one of my closest friends online after moving to melbourne I talked S in my blog occasionally. She is a wonderful person who has become more of a sister than friend, her partner J has become a Nanna to my girls (my parents are interstate and my husbands parents have passed away). It was S who reminded me that we met online first when I was nervous about going to AusBlogCon.

    1. Wish we had had more time to talk, Marita. I will make it to Melbourne soon and we will sit and have coffee 🙂

  6. Was wonderful to meet you (still can’t believe I didn’t recognize you! It was dark!! LOL) and look forward to you coming over to Melbourne. Have already told Princess that we are off to Birdie Nums Nums to play with some new friends and she is excited 🙂

  7. I’m not sure what this says about me… but I met some of my very best and closest friends online. I also met my husband online…. so *ahem*…. perhaps I just suck at making friends in real life.

But I don’t care because it was just amazingly awesome to meet you in person, and I am still reeling (in a good way) and plotting ways to get you to move here….
