Re-Purpose Your Child’s Artwork

Immy’s room is freshly painted and new curtains have been ordered – it’s a fresh canvas ready for decorating. I have been planning what to hang on the walls and thought that I would show you one of the projects I have been working on.

Create a beautiful collage with your child's artwork

The image above is a scan of a collage I made using two of Immy’s artworks. The red bird and hearts in the nest are cut from one painting made during our monoprinting experience and the nest is made of strips cut from a painting Immy recently made by printing with blocks.

I am really happy with the outcome and so pleased to have re-purposed some of Immy’s own artwork in the process.

Oh Christie this is divine! I love it (and will probably steal the idea). Please post a pic of Immy's room with it on the wall? I'd love to see how it all comes together.

  2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Such a beautiful idea to recreate with your children's artwork.

  3. What a great idea, I too can wait to see it on the wall.

  4. What a terrific idea! I feel bad tossing out my little one's scrawling, but I just can't keep it all in a big meaningless pile. How great to take it and reuse it in a really meaningful way!

  5. What an awesome idea! I get TONS of paintings from my son's school and don't know what to do with all of them…I might have to steal this idea! LOVE it!

I scan all my artwork into a file and when any type of "photo book" is on special I make an album of all the artwork with photos and funny little quotes about them..and when they ar finnished they are only 1cm thick and a great keepsake.

  7. You are far too clever! What a brilliant idea. I have a tub half filled with my daughter's art work. Will have to dig through and pick some out for an art re-creation in our new scool room! Thanks for the tip!!
