Revisiting: Starting School

As a whole new batch of Australian parents prepare to send their precious four and five year olds off into the world of ‘big school,’ I thought it was a good time to revisit three starting school posts from late last year…

Oh i have such fond memories of my children starting school, all very ready, the only one a little nervous came with a twin who had enough confidence for both of them. We're about to start high school, she's excited & they have done gorgeous build up introduction activities already, even i feel so welcome. Super exciting time in our lives, good luck to everyone starting new schools, love Posie

  2. My daughter starts kindergarten next year, at the school she will continue at until year 12. None of her close (mum's group) buddies are going with her, they're all heading off to different schools and she is very aware of this (and not at all happy about it!).

My main focus over summer will be to organise some play-dates with a girl from preschool who will be in her kinder class, but whom we don't know very well. And we'll be reading books about starting kinder, getting her uniform together and talking – of course the talking has already begun! I really just want her to feel happy and enthusiastic, but it's not looking like it will be a given 🙂

I'm off to read your previous posts now Christie – we need all the advice we can get!

as i am discovering the Australian school system along with my son, i am sometimes a little insecure about things, but i am hoping not to transmit it too much. any tips are very welcome! 🙂
