Trying to find my Christmas spirit!

The tree is up,

the presents bought, and the shortbread made (thanks Amanda!)

but I still feel that something is missing. It took me a little while to put my finger on it….

I am missing my Christmas spirit!

Where can it be?

In the hustle of shopping, maybe I left it at the shops?

Or in the bustle of writing cards and sending parcels, maybe I posted it by accident?

Oh where, Oh where can it be?

Today I think I worked out why I was missing that joyous, Christmas feeling.

Music, we have no music!

(Well, actually we do have music, everyday. But it is of the Hot Potatoes or Dinosaurs Roar! variety, not the Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer type.)

I miss listening to Christmas Carols! Usually in my work with children, we would have had carols and all types of festive music playing for weeks now in the lead up to the festive season. Poor, neglected Immy hasn’t even been introduced to the joys of Silent Night or All I Want For Christmas or even We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Fortunately, we still have time! Expect to hear this…

… on continual replay at our house for the next few days. And family coming to visit on Christmas Day, get used to the idea because Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

I bet my Christmas spirit is lurking about with yours.

I finally got my Christmas carols CD out of the car player (been in there all year …but only on rarely).

The boys sat there singing carols in front of stereo – it was so sweet !

Later in other car the teen was being a grumpy grinch as Sammy sang his version of Christmas carols , tuneless and mixed up but so cute.

MMm I made shortbread last night … need more now đŸ˜‰

My little guys likes singing Jingle Bells, O Christmas Tree, etc. – typical "toddler" ones… but he loooves dancing, and his favorite Xmas songs so far are some of the "groovier" ones – he likes Run Run Rudolph, Celine Dion's I Met an Angel on Christmas Day, Hanson's Christmas Means to Me – ones like that. I spent a lot of time searching for good versions of some of the "toddler" type songs – ones that weren't too long/done over to be "grown-up" versions, but that weren't sung in annoying fake kid voices either lol – I really hate a lot of kids CDs for that reason, can't stand those voices!! I'd rather they have real kids who are bad singers sing the songs! lol

Nothing like a burst of the old carols to get your Christmas Cheer going. Wishing you a very cheerful christmas.

  4. I love carols, we have been singing them since mid november. Practicing for our MOPPETS and Kindy performance and it continued on.

How ever if you have not found your spirit it could be at the bottle O hiding behind a label saying Vodka, Gin,…..ho ho ho A very merry christmas to you and your family.
