The Best of Our Play Space: Inspiring Creative Play Spaces

This week The Best of Our Play Space features four great, creative play spaces. I think this collection shows that no matter how much (or how little) space you have available, that it can be simple to make an engaging, dedicated space for children’s creative endeavours.

Pauline of Lessons Learnt Journal created this writing centre and atelier for her four children in a space of 1 metre x 4  metres (see more details here). She was inspired by the Playful Learning Spaces eCourse developed by the talented Mariah Bruhl of Playful Learning (aff link).

The marvellous chalk board wall featured in Christine’s family creative space just has to be the perfect backdrop for creativity. Framed artwork, big drawing pads and a range of mark making tools complete the space. Read more about it here.

Kate of 4 Swirled Peas and her family uses their sunny, creative space as a craft room, playroom and school room. The huge table made of repurposed materials is fabulous! See more here.

kids art space

Displaying children’s art is one perfect way to support their developing view of themselves as artists. Aleacia of Dilly-Dali Art has dedicated one whole wall in her children’s play space to act as a fabulous gallery for her children’s creations. You can see more here.

You can see the previous ‘Best Of’ posts here – indoors and outdoors. Next week I will be sharing playful ideas for small spaces! Be sure not to miss out by subscribing to the Childhood 101 RSS feed or receiving blog updates straight to your email.

Do you have a family or kids play space in your home that you love (indoors or outdoors)? Submit your play space here and you too could be featured on Childhood 101.
