Late this afternoon I really needed a nanna nap. That has been happening quite a lot lately, with being pregnant and exhausted and then not pregnant and still exhausted. In fact, in many ways I feel like the past five months have passed in a blur of life being those moments of necessary activity which occur between the glorious escape which is sleep. Anyway, back to today’s nap.
I crawled into bed, or rather shuffled in sideways, carefully squeezing between the sheet and the quilt in order to avoid disturbing the dumped carefully arranged piles of clean washing, library books, various items of not-yet-put-away travel paraphernalia, collection of dolls, soft bears, wooden blocks, and random (toddler sized) shoe, which adorned the topside of our doona.
You see this morning we had visitors and in order for our home to be presentable enough to allow visitors anywhere near our humble chateau we first needed to have a bit of a tidy up. Except I have since been informed that what we actually had was a ‘hide-y up!’ Yes, that extreme form of de-cluttering which involves scooping up copious amounts of homey stuff and dumping it unceremoniously behind closed doors. In this case, the doors of both the spare bedroom and the master bedroom.
Of course, once I had managed to manipulate my weary limbs into a somewhat comfortable position, I could not actually sleep as I felt too guilty about lying down when there was clearly so much actual tidying up which needed to be done *sigh* Where would we be without mother guilt to keep us going???
Tell me I am not alone! Have you ever been known to engage in the odd ‘hide-y up’ before guests arrive?

My heart goes out to you with the loss of your bub. I've been there, and it's quite a journey... the grief and the physicality of it all.
I think you should forget the jobs for a little while. You deserve the nap.
Our master bedroom is usually a complete mess and is also used as the hidey-up room!
So I will blush and say yes, I have been known for this behaviour! I do clean when we don't have visitors coming, but not in such a manic, panicked way.
Glad I'm not the only one. :)
I'm a "one more thing" type of person and I can NEVER stop doing things because there is always, "ONE MORE THING" to do before going to bed, leaving the house, doing something for myself or whatever.
This might bring you a laugh in light of your "confession."
