“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.”
– O. Fred Donaldson
Have you joined the #TrustPlay challenge yet? I am loving seeing the play ideas shared from all around the globe. It really is a celebration of all things learning that happens when children play. Play is not just about imagining or learning socially or being physically active – although these are all important ways in which children play and learn, I really want us to look and see ALL of the learning that happens when children play. The skills, behaviours, attitudes, even muscles they are building and training and developing as they play! Will you join us?
Here are the prompts for November…
So, this week’s theme is CO-ORDINATE. Show me how your kids learn through movement! It can be fine motor or large motor – let’s get our kids moving and co-ordinating their bodies.
I really hope you’ll join us. Here’s a little more about how to play along…
What is #trust play and how does it work? #trustplay is trusting that when they play our children are learning important skills, behaviours and attitudes. It’s about sharing the little learning interactions and playful moments that you observe your children enjoying. Each week I will share a #trustplay theme for the week. You will be able to see it here on the blog, or find it on Instagram or Facebook.
What should I share? Any playful image that you feel fits the weekly theme. You can share as many photos depicting the theme as you wish.
How do I share? If you are on Instagram, just add the hashtag #trustplay to your photos to join. If you are sharing on Facebook, you can share on your personal page or on the Childhood 101 Facebook page. You can also share on your own blog if you like. Each week I will highlight my favourite ideas on social media, sharing them on Instagram.
You can catch more of my #trustplay photos this week over on Instagram! Can’t wait to see your #trustplay moments too.
