Our Play Space: A Natural Playground

A peek inside a reader’s play space…

We call 6 rural acres home, so our kids’ favorite play places are just outside our doors!

They have a small wooded area where they build “roads” and lean-to “houses.” They find natural elements to use in their play, as well as a few smuggled items from the house.

Our newest addition to play is the meandering path my husband mowed through our overgrown field. They love taking hikes there, picking wildflowers, and recently used it for trail rides on their stick horses at my little boy’s Cowboy themed birthday party.

We have our best fun outside! The kids love their play places, but they often join me in mine as well! They are quick to join in when I’m gardening by pulling weeds or looking for neat bugs. My six year old loves helping care for our chickens and our cow.

My kids are having a rural brand of fun… natural, unstructured, dirty, and very organic!
