These cute printable snail counting mats with tens frames is a super fun and playful counting activity for preschool and kindergarten age children.
Kids will love getting creative with counting, using small math manipulatives, such as sequins, pom poms, small gemstones, buttons, mini erasers or playdough, to count from one to ten.
Great for home or school, these counting mats provide a fun, hands-on counting and numeral recognition activity. At school, they are super handy as an independent work activity, or as part of a math centre.

To get started you will need to download and print a copy of the counting mats – the instructions for which can be found at the bottom of this post.
They can be used with any small math manipulatives, but our favourite way to play and count is by making tiny playdough hearts. This way, at the same time as they are revising number skills, your children will be working their fine motor muscles in meaningful, hands-on way.
The set comes with numbers 1-10. Simply print and laminate, then add playdough or your gave math manipulative to create a reusable resource for your classroom or home.
Children are prompted to add the correct number of items to each snail, and they can also add a second set of items to the tens frame which is great for reinforcing counting with 1:1 correspondence.
