Sponsor Spotlight on the Zigo Leader

A few weeks ago I shared with readers a little about my ongoing battle with sugar. When I published that post I had been trying to cut back on sugar for a few weeks but it was actually the impetus for me saying, “No more!” and I have now been sugar free for three and a half weeks. It has been hard – headaches for the first few days, grumpiness for days thereafter, cravings which I thought would never end. But. It. Is. Getting. Better 🙂

And I am proud that I am doing something for me and my health, after all in my manifesto for 2011 I talked about the potential of a new year and the opportunity it presents for fresh starts and in my case my personal health really did need some serious consideration!  That is also why when I was presented with the opportunity to test drive the Zigo Leader, I jumped at the chance. I enjoy bike riding and we live in a really well planned, safe area for riding BUT I haven’t ridden for more than three years. Why? Because I hate the idea of Immy riding behind me in either a child bike seat or trailer. I mean seriously, I am so uncoordinated that turning to check on her every twelve seconds (as I would be) would mean that we would be sure to swerve into traffic or (worse yet!) crash spectacularly onto the pavement! (Yes, my mother and siblings are laughing at this mental picture and will tell you it is all true!)

With the Zigo your child (or children – the Zigo has room for two) rides up front. You can see them and even reach down to touch them if the need arises. As well, being a three wheeler means that the bike feels very stable to ride, in fact in many ways it is more like riding a tricycle than a bike. And we are really enjoying it. Immy feels like the queen of the road and loves packing her little palace for the ride ahead – toys, books, snacks, drink bottle…what more does a girl need?

We have the loan of a Zigo for one month and my goal is to ride five times a week for the whole month to get me back into the habit of exercising regularly (with a small child in tow). You can see more of our adventures on a day to day basis on the Childhood 101 Facebook page and I will let you know how I go with my personal challenge. Wish me luck!

And why not leave a comment to let me know how your new years goals, intentions or resolutions are going.

Be sure to check out the Zigo Australia website for more information about how the Zigo Leader functions as a Bike/Child Carrier/Pram and Jogging Pram. If you are in Perth, Western Australia and want to know more contact Juana via email to juana@myzigo.com.au and let her know that you are a Childhood 101 reader for details of a very limited special offer.

That looks way too much fun....wish my guys were little enough again to use something like that. Great about your getting out and about for your health and all the other spinoffs that come with fresh air.

I love the look of it! We have a great bike/walking track down the road near the lake and I could easily see myself getting around on one of those once I'm no longer pregnant beast size. Congratulations on the no sugar! I haven't really made any resolutions this year but my big thing is all about finding some balance and realising that I am quite possibly addicted to being busy. Something to work on ;-)

I hear you about being addicted to being busy. I must channel my inner 'slow down' regularly!

Well done Christie on being sugar free for almost a month! Are you feeling better for it? I bought off ebay a child bicycle carrier seat that goes on the back of my bike so my daughter is sitting right behind me. In Adelaide, we regularly ride on Linear Park which has a track that weaves it's way almonst gum trees, play grounds, picnic tables/chairs & bbqs and even see the occasional koala. We usually pack abit of morning tea and ride to discover a different playground to explore.

Wow! I have Zigo envy now! Bike riding is what I do for exercise and I would love one of those. So far, front/rear seats and rear/side cars have not worked for us. As much as I'd love to try the Zigo, $2595, even when converted to USD, is more than we can afford.

I agree with you Maureen, it is an expensive investment but I imagine that if you are a keen cyclist and plan to have a number of children then it would be easier to justify the expense. Plus it can also be used as a pram and a jogging pram (and some of those jogging prams are also very expensive).
