Wow, this week has just buzzed by at a rate of knots! Immy is just finishing up a two week school holiday break so PLAY has been high on the agenda in our house. My girls just love to play! As I shared at the beginning of the week, I am challenging us all to appreciate the learning that happens through play so that we stop overlooking its importance and put PLAY back at the top of our to-do lists. The challenge is called #trustplay and you can read more about how it came about here.
I would love for you to join us! This week’s theme is READ. Please feel free to share images of your favourite books, what you’re reading now, your kids reading anything and everything – even the cereal box at breakfast time!
Plus, for those who like to plan ahead, I am sharing the next two weekly themes – CONCENTRATE is next up (19-25 October), followed by a week of YOUR CHOICE – this one should be lots of fun, just show us all your kids’ favourite ways to play.
I really hope you’ll join us. Here’s a little more about how to play along…
What is #trust play and how does it work?
#trustplay is trusting that when they play our children are learning important skills, behaviours and attitudes. It’s about sharing the little learning interactions and playful moments that you observe your children enjoying. Each week I will share a #trustplay theme for the week. You will be able to see it here on the blog, or find it on Instagram or Facebook.
What should I share?
Any playful image that you feel fits the weekly theme. You can share as many photos depicting the weekly theme as you wish.
How do I share?
If you are on Instagram, just add the hashtag #trustplay to your photos to join.
If you are sharing on Facebook, you can share on your personal page or on the Childhood 101 Facebook page.
You can also share on your own blog if you like. Each week I will highlight my favourite ideas on social media, sharing them on Instagram.
You can catch more of my #trustplay photos this week over on Instagram! Can’t wait to see your #trustplay moments too.
