We Play

Wow, 38 We Play links last week, our biggest group so far! Hugs and a big thank you to everyone who is playing along. My favourite play idea takes play away from home and on the move. I love that it involves older children (because we all know that play is not just for babies and toddlers, right?) and I’m storing it away until Immy is a bit bigger 🙂 You can check it out here.

What have we been playing this week? Well apart from a lot of home corner play, Immy has rediscovered her puppets. She hasn’t played with them for some time now, and this is the first time that she has been able to get them onto her own hand independently. Here Wombat and Pussy Cat are enjoying Ring-A-Ring-A-Rosie. I love puppets and if you missed my previous posts about them, you can revisit them here.

Now it’s your turn. What have you been playing this week? Please remember to link to your play post URL, not your home page and please provide a link back to We Play. If this is your first time playing, find the instructions to play here. If you are viewing this post in a reader, you will need to visit the post to see the links. And please take the time to visit the other links and leave a comment to support our play community 🙂

  1. We were inspired by last week's post and are currently acting out Dora the Explorer, climbing over swamps and crawling through caves. We've been playing with mirrors too for this post.

Kieran redecorated his mailbox and has been playing with the felt mail all week. It started when we saw a postal truck outside – he said "I want to be a mail carrier!" And so we got out the mailbox/mail. He has had so much fun putting things in the envelope and delivering them to us!
Looking forward to all of this week's great ideas – I love this link-up!

Puppets are great – I am impressed that Immy can already manipulate them independently. We need to get out puppet theater out one of those days!

  5. I'm so glad you liked the activity that I shared!!

  6. Hi Christie..as you well know I adore puppets…this time I decided to share with the rest of the group some activities that one can do or mediums that they can use to introduce colors as in color recognition, sorting etc…love all the sharing of ideas that one does every week…so here I continue to play again…

  7. I love puppets, too, but so far my kids aren't very interested in them. Maybe when they're a little older…

  8. Puppets are great, so many people we can be!

  9. I love when the kiddos rediscover toys they've forgotten about — especially when they have all new ideas for playing with them!

  10. these link ups are so much fun 🙂

  11. How fun! We pulled our puppet curtain out this week too. I love to see how they pretend or make up stories.
