We Play

We play… hanging the washing! It’s never too early to teach a useful skill after all 🙂
I remember how much the children in child care loved pegging and bought these small wooden pegs a little while ago to make a pegging game for Immy. I had grand plans to make some felt clothes but they haven’t quite come to fruition just yet (LOL!) so I thought I would just start with pegging up dolls clothes. The clothes line is a small box with a long length of elastic threaded through some holes. We do have an adult sized portable clothesline but it is a bit tall for Immy and I figured with learning to peg, it was more important to concentrate on the fine motor skills involved without also trying to balance and reach.
Needless to say, our pegging is a hit!

My favourite play idea from last week is over here, please visit and leave a comment to show your support for great play!

And now it is your turn, what have you been playing this week? At home, outdoors, at preschool, wherever you are, I would love to hear about your play ideas and experiences.

Remember to link to your play post URL, not your home page, and please provide a link back to We Play in your post. If this is your first time playing, find the instructions to play here. If you are viewing this post in a reader, you will need to visit the post to see the links. And please take the time to visit the other links and leave a comment to support our burgeoning play community 🙂

A clothes airer is one of our most popular outside toys. The girls adore helping to hang out the washing on their own little line.

I'm pretty sure hanging and ironing th clothes is one of the most popular parts of home corner at kinder for us too, perhaps because we have the whole kitchen thing at home, and because Mummy doesn't even have a washing line so it is quite a novelty! LOL

Kieran likes to play with clothespins whenever I hang up the laundry, but I've never thought about having him hang clothes up! Great idea.
My post is a little bit different this week - we're playing in the name of safety! :)

Bear's done this. I strung a string across two chairs. She was able to manage normal clothespins and hung her socks all day:) I love how you set it up in a box.

I love the box idea too. Mum got Em a wooden child-sized clothesline for her second birthday and it was one of the most used toys she has ever got. We still use it nearly 5 years later. I took it to playgroup a couple of times too. A great big hit, especially when used along side a pretend washing machine. Thanks for letting us all play along with you Christie, this is a great idea and worth all your hard work!

Such a fun activity for kids - I keep meaning to create felt clothes, too. Just not enough time in the day!

Just found your blog and I'm excited to take a look around. :)
