We Play: For Fresh, Fun, Family Play Ideas

Welcome once again to the wikipedia of weekly play ideas! Check out the We Play archives to find more than 700 fantastic play ideas 🙂

This week we have been enamoured by a new (to us) Charlie and Lola book and episode, But Where Completely are We? And as Charlie and Lola know, all good explorers need a tree house, and indoor outdoor camping at home is simply the best, surrounded by all those wild animals who creep into your tree house to steal your afternoon tea, no less! Who would think a sheet or two, a blanket and a few pegs could provide so many days worth of adventures.

Once again I have been ably assisted by the incredibly wonderful We Play playmates, Marita and Amanda, in choosing this week’s great play posts. From one engineering deficient Mum to another, Amanda’s pick can be found here. Marita’s choice is perfectly in time for our Australian Father’s Day coming up this weekend, if you need a simple, at home gift idea check out this great post.

And now it is your turn, what are you playing this week??

Tip of the week: Make time to visit the other We Play links to fill your play ideas cup to overflowing (plus we all love a lil ole comment or two). Full instructions for first time players can be found here.

  1. Love, love, LOVE Charlie & Lola in this house and really need to add to our library. I know you have the Amazon link there, but I have recently done some investigating and you can get about 10 books from the book depository for $40(aus) an there is no postage costs! Saving about $60, I am definitely going to get some to put away for Christmas!

My favourite book is "But I am an alligator" which is all about the wonders of dress ups, although I have to say at bedtime I often read "I am not sleepy, and I will not go to bed" for all the obvious reasons!

  2. More Charlie and Lola fans here! I wish I had a child like Charlie 🙂 We were actually reading a book called 'Imagine' last night and discussing pretending to be in the jungle.

We love Charlie and Lola too.

My boys have been playing 'trampoline' on an old mattress in the loungeroom. It keeps them happy for hours on a windy or rainy day.

  4. Raising a Happy Child says:

What a neat tent! I love Immy's expression in the second picture.

Finally, I have added my link to We Play for this week!

Charlie and Lola inspired play fun – I like it Christie! I am just about to go now and finish making some C+L invitations to Miss M's extremely and absolutely special number 4 birthday in a few weeks. We have a package of C+L party supplies arriving any day from the UK. Maybe we'll have to set up jungle like yours.

  6. Hear Mum Roar says:

Ooh, that does look like a fun adventure!
