3 Super Smoothie Recipes Your Kids Will Love
This is a sponsored post.
My girls are both reasonably good eaters but as they are so active playing and learning throughout the day I am always mindful of packing as much nutritional value into each meal as I can. Which is one of the reasons I love including smoothies as part of our breakfast menu. My girls both love smoothies and it is so easy to include additional nutrients without compromising on taste, for example, avocado for some good fat or blitzed rolled oats for some additional protein and fibre. Most recently, I have also been adding Cenovis Kids Vita Sprinkles to our smoothies as an alternative to the more traditional once daily kids multivitamin tablet.
Available as both a flavour free and chocolate flavoured powder, the comprehensive multivitamin formulation of Vita Sprinkles supports the needs of active, growing bodies. It can be easily added to all sorts of savoury and sweet dishes – bolognaise sauce, casseroles, curries, soup, milk, yoghurt, custard, puréed fruit, even condiments to spread on toast.
We love experimenting with new flavours for our smoothies and the following three recipes have all passed the kid friendly tick test in our house!
#1: Coco-Mango Bongo
My whole family loves mango and this tropical inspired smoothie has us dreaming of summer days, even when it’s cold outside.
You will need:
- 1 whole mango (fresh or tinned), roughly chopped
- ½ cup coconut milk, chilled
- ¼ cup your choice of yoghurt – we used plain Greek yoghurt
To make:
- Blitz all ingredients until smooth.
#2: ChocBanana Blitz
This chocolate and banana mix is super thick, smooth and silky. Immy likes to pretend it’s chocolate pudding and eat it with a spoon!
You will need:
- 2 small bananas, roughly chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 2 Tablespoons cocoa
- 2 Tablespoons honey
- ½ small avocado
To make:
- Blitz all ingredients until smooth.
#3: Kiwi KAPOW!
Need an extra power punch? This kiwi flavoured concoction will help you BAM! ZOOM! and KAPOW! your way through the day.
You will need:
- 2 kiwi fruit, peeled and diced
- 1/3 continental cucumber, peeled and diced
- 10 green grapes (peeled if your children have a low tolerance for lumps in their smoothies)
- ¼ cup coconut water
To make:
- Blitz all ingredients until (relatively!) smooth.
Once our smoothie of the day is blitzed, I simply stir in one teaspoon of Cenovis Kids Vita Sprinkles into each serve for an easy, extra kickstart to the day.
Are you a smoothie drinking family? What flavour smoothies do your kids enjoy?
Yum! They look incredible and the Vita Sprinkles sound like the best idea! We’ll have to get some!
Let me know if you give them a try, Rachel 🙂
I love smoothies but haven’t converted the kids yet. Thanks for these yummy recipes.
They haven’t tried or they don’t like, Kylie?
These all look so delicious! And what a great way to get their vitamins in!!!
Agreed, Asia, my smallest might just be addicted to smoothies 😉
I will definitely be trying the choc one with my daughter. She loves smoothies. Like the idea of adding the sprinkles too.
Thanks, Maree, I look forward to hearing if you give them a go 🙂
We’re big kiwi fans here so I know my kids will LOVE making Kiwi Kapow. Thanks for the fun recipes.
