These Printable 2D Shapes Building Mats are a great tool for hands-on learning about 2D shapes and their attributes in your classroom or homeschool room. Just pair them with a set of craft sticks or popsicle sticks and you’re ready to build!
Easy to download, print and build, the printable pack includes eight common 2D shapes – triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, rhombus and parrallelogram, as well as four bonus mats featuring stars, an arrow, cross and house.

The pages can be printed as full page activity mats or, alternatively, print two or four to a page to create a set of STEM challenge cards.
I suggest protecting printed mats or cards by laminating or placing into a protective, plastic sleeve.
How to Use the Popsicle Stick 2D Shapes Building Mats

Students simply work to recreate the shape shown on each mat with their own collection of craft sticks. They are also able to trace over the name of the shape with a whiteboard maker (this can be easily removed from laminated mats or plastic sleeves so that the same set of mats can be re-used over and over).
The mats make a great addition to math stations or rotations within the classroom or can be used as a quiet activity for early finishers.
