Autumn Activities for Toddlers That Are Simple & Fun to Do

Celebrate the changing seasons with this awesome collection of autumn activities for toddlers. These creative and sensory activities are simple to set up and perfect for inviting your toddler to explore the wonders of Fall.

autumn activities for toddlers

1. Head out on a Leaf Hunt
Take a nature walk together, collecting colourful Autumn leaves as you go. Invite your child to tell you what colour each leaf is as you find it. Once you’re home again, invite your toddler to sort the leaves according to their colour and then size (big/little).

2. Create an Autumn Leaf Suncatcher
Tape a large piece of clear, self-adhesive book covering to a window and invite your toddler to stick their collection of leaves onto it. It will only be temporary but toddlers love this type of sticky collage…and parents like that it’s not at all messy!

3. Autumn Themed Sensory Play
Sensory play is wonderful for babies and toddlers and there are lots of fabulous items to represent the colours of autumn right in your pantry – pasta, oats, lentils and dried beans. Add some small containers, plastic bottles and spoons or scoops for free exploration.

5. Fingerprint Autumn Tree
Use some nice strong glue to stick some twigs onto a canvas or heavy cardboard. When dry, invite your toddler to make leaves using their fingerprints using red and orange paint.

7. Make some autumn scented playdough
Involve your toddler in crushing up the spice mix with a mortar and pestle for this awesomely scented homemade playdough – it’s a great combination of spices and citrus and it smells so good.
