Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival and the date that the holiday commences changes each year as it is based on the Lunar calendar. It is a popular celebration across Asian communities all around the world, including Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Each year on the Chinese calendar is represented by one of twelve zodiac animals. In order they are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. 2022 is the Year of the Tiger and 2023 will be the Year of the Rabbit.
