Frozen Watermelon & Strawberry Sorbet

Sorbet, granita, slushie, slurpee, icee…I really had no idea what to call this delicious frozen concoction! To me it’s more a sorbet or granita but without the added sugar, however by adding a little more water or adding ice you could definitely be thinking this is a slushie or slurpee! Whatever name you bestow, this Watermelon and Strawberry freezee is the perfect afternoon snack on a hot Summers day.

Watermelon and Strawberry Sorbet

Watermelon & Strawberry Sorbet Recipe

You will need:

The following makes 2-3 child sized afternoon tea portions, when increasing quantities keep the ratio of ingredients the same.

  • 1 heaped cup of ripe watermelon, diced into 1.5cm cubes and frozen
  • 5 strawberries, frozen
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons water

To make:

Whiz all ingredients in a blender or food processor until well combined, scraping down the sides as necessary. Serve immediately.

If not eating immediately, place mixture into a shallow dish and freeze. Before serving, scrape with a fork to break up and then serve.

What is your favourite keep-cool snack on a hot day?
