Scratch art is such a fun and classic art making technique for kids. We decided to experiment with using our own DIY scratch art sheets to create spiders’ webs and we love the results!
Making your own scratch art sheets is really simple. You just need oil pastels and paper – we used Micador Oil Pastels and Painting Paper which I cut into squares. You can see how we make our own DIY scratch art sheets here.
Spider web construction begins – we scratch the surface with a popstick, starting with a series of radial lines.
Then it’s time to add the circular spiral strokes.
The colourful scratch art web is as beautiful as a real, dew drop covered web.
You can also add a quirky thumbprint spider if you like! We used silver, metallic paint for our thumbprints, adding legs and eyes with Micador Metallic Markers.
