Our Play Space: Tiny Space for Little Ones

A peek inside a reader’s play space…

We live in a small apartment (about 600 sq ft) in the heart of Manhattan with 3 little kids. Although our living space its tight we
have been able to carve out a piece of it for the kids. I am so glad we did. We use every inch of our apartment, all the time, so messiness is bound to happen. But, more often then not, the kids toys seem to stay on the blue rug.

One of the things I love about our tiny living space is we have learned to be careful in our consumption of kid stuff. I am constantly cleaning out what isn’t played with (I am an avid Craigslist user for buying and selling kids stuff).  All of their toys are stored in the bottom of that cabinet, with a few exceptions. We have a lot of dress ups, do a lot of arts and crafts and read lots of books. Our small space has encouraged our creativity in many ways and we love it.

Thank you, Kiasa, for sharing your play space with us, you are an inspiration when it comes to managing small people in small spaces :)   You can read more about Kiasa and her family adventures in New York City on her blog, Living Life and Loving It.

Oh I love the painting above the craft table… looks like just the thing to set the little imaginations rolling. We spent 9 months in a tiny one bedroom apartment with 2 year old twins, so I hear you about the need for inventiveness in a small space! And frankly, the kids just don’t seem to notice if things are tight, as long as it is Home. Thanks for showing us your space, grace

Wow I can barely tell that it is a “small” space.. looks so neat and love that painting on the wall. I should really start cleaning out things that aren’t played with anymore like you do… thanks for the tips :)

Thanks so much for featuring our little space! It’s so fun to see it on one of my favorite blogs and be a part of this community.
