As I shared recently, our intention is to get our two girls involved with a more regular schedule of chores this year as I admit it has been more than a little hit and miss in our house until now. At ages two (nearly three!) and seven one chore that both girls are able to help with is setting the table for the evening meal. To help them achieve a greater level with independence with this task I decided to create a set of placemats that show which side of the plate each cutlery item should be placed.
These printable placemats make the task super simple for children of all ages, and only take a moment to print and laminate. I had a little fun playing around with a few different background designs and decided to present three different coloured versions here for those who would like to print a set for their own family. I have also included two blank place setting printables (one without a spoon for those who generally just set the table with a knife and fork) for those who would like to get the kids busy decorating a very unique and personalised set of placemats!
To print your own set of placemats:
1. Click on the image below showing the design you wish to use for your placemats (individual, non commercial use only). This will open a larger PDF version of the placemat that you can download to your own computer.
2. Open the PDF and print. When printing, select “Fit to printable area” (or similar) to ensure the page fits with your printer type and local paper size (these have been created at A4 size). I printed ours onto semi gloss photo paper.
3. Laminate your printed copies for greater durability and wipe-ability.
