Life is Full of Surprises

The past few weeks have been all about swings and roundabouts! As parents we know that life is full of ups and downs, and against a background of struggling for over five weeks with a dose of bronchitis that morphed into pneumonia (which is the sickest I have ever felt, at least in my adult life), a number of projects that have been in the making for months now have started to fall into place. I can’t wait to share further details with you all as they are confirmed.

One of the ‘ups’ that came as a complete surprise today was a phone call informing me that Childhood 101 has been selected by a panel of judges as one of five finalists in the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards 2011, within the Best Parenting Blog category.

Having won the award in 2009, it is an honour to be selected again. Childhood 101 is without a doubt a labour of love for me. I started blogging here as a place to share my experiences as a new Mum and early childhood teacher passionate about the importance of play to children’s learning. What I never expected was how much I would receive in return – community, friendship, support and inspiration from all around the world. Thank you all for coming on this journey with me. Thank you to the team of regular contributors for all that you share. Thank you to everyone for their support of Playopedia and Play Grow Learn. It is through your support and sharing that we can together continue to create a place to celebrate childhood.

And now it is over to the public to decide the winner for Best Parenting Blog.

You can vote for Childhood 101 here. Please select a blog in each category – it literally only takes a few seconds to click through each one. When you get to ‘Best Parenting Blog,’ just be sure to check Childhood 101 🙂  Votes can be submitted every two hours and close on November 27th but I promise not to harass you all too often!

There are a number of Australian based finalists within the other categories which I think is pretty fabulous considering the size of the Asia Pacific wide blogosphere. Congratulations to Lizosaurus – Original Blog Design, Rachel Devine – Best Photography Blog, Grab Your Fork – Best Food Blog, Y Travel Blog – Best Travel Blog, Sea of Ghosts – Best Fashion Blog, Sassi Sam – Best Entertainment Blog, Melburnian – Best Micro Blog, Eat Show Tell – Original Blog Design, Citrus and Candy – Best Photography Blog and A Beach Cottage – Hidden Gem (I’ll add others as I discover who they are).

And thank you all again xx

Voting is now open. Please cast your vote here.
