Paper Towel Painting
Sometimes finding a new art experience is as simple as trying your materials out on a new ‘canvas.’ Such was the case when we decided to try painting with watercolours onto kitchen paper towel.
We used a Micador watercolour palette, experimenting with brushes of different sizes and a little water.
It was interesting to see the water absorb into the towel and make a great exercise for practising making rich colours with our watercolours (ie. a little water on our brush and swish the brush around your chosen colour on the palette at least ten times).
It was a great activity for all ages, the toddler had a go with brush…and fingers!
The early school aged child made lots of precious paintings of familiar themes.
And adding a fineline permanent marker invites an interesting creative challenge for older children and adults.
All beautiful artworks created with that roll of paper you have in the kitchen!
