Due to the fact that I have been unwell, we are going on close to three weeks of Immy and I spending A LOT of time at home. With me unable to do much more than sit on the couch, there has been lots of calling upon quiet time activities, my moments for Mum, too much screen time and snippets of time outdoors where I can just sit in a chair in the sun (weather permitting).
Needless to say, Immy was somewhat relieved when Saturday rolled around, as she knows that that means Dad 101 is not at work! They had made grand plans for a morning building castles at the beach and time for a swim. That is one of their favourite ways to spend time together.
And they then decided that Sunday morning they would head for the zoo, Immy’s choice and one of her favourite places to visit. I may just have been a little bit jealous that I was too sick to join them!
It was wonderful that they had this time to spend together, just the two of them. Too often our weekends are filled with chores and other commitments that leave less time for just hanging out together or heading out on special adventures. Just being present in the moment together. Having fun. It makes me wonder, what could be more important than that?
How do you and your children (or your partner and your children) usually choose to spend special time together? Do you have particular activities that your children enjoy with one parent?
