Our Play Space: Laneway Garden

We created laneway garden in a rarely used space – the passage down the side of our house. It is fairly simple – a low table built out of old building materials that were lying around, and excess pot plants that were cluttering up the main garden.

Laneway garden is a mix of plants and sculptures – a ceramic bird, a lizard climbing the wall, plastic toy butterflies and two hooks on the wall for the kids to hang whatever they fancy. It is a quiet and cool place where my girls (4 and 2) spend time pottering – setting up fairy houses and watering our pot plants.

What a clever use of a small outdoor space, I imagine it would make an excellent backdrop for so many imaginative play scenarios! To see more of this play space (and for more fabulous small outdoor place ideas) be sure to visit At Home With Ali.

  1. What a wonderful idea! Just goes to show, you don’t need much space to bring a little nature into your child’s world.
